Gemini Horoscope for April 2012

There are lots of things to like about April! Your ruling planet, Mercury, will go direct speed on April 4, pushing forward all sorts of projects that have been languishing for weeks. Even though you'll be anxious to get going, don't be too eager to dive into plans too quickly. You need to wait a little, because any project or relationship you start would glow more brilliantly if you also wait for Mars to move direct as well, only a little over a week later, on April 13.

Having Mars in a weak position since January 23 is why the year has had such as slow start, for this planet is the one that ignites ideas and projects and sends them into a strong trajectory. If you've been playing a waiting game most of 2012, things should at least improve to the point where you know what comes next. You may be able to settle things by the third week of April too, now, so you do have reason to be optimistic. The combination of these two planets in retrograde has been frustrating for everyone, but perhaps more for you because Mercury is your ruler. Now, progress.

Also in the first half of April, we have a full moon on April 6, and that will bring a romantic or platonic situation to culmination. How things will go depends in large measure on how things have been going on in your relationship all along. This full moon makes a hard aspect to Pluto, so this month, money keeps coming up as an important consideration, and seems to be a situation that keeps changing. The money seems to be needed to help one of your children, if you have them, or to help a friend or lover who has hit a crisis. Or, it may be that you need to participate in a wedding or other social event, or are considering your financial state if you want a baby.

When Pluto is in hard angle as it will be on April 6, there is always a chance that someone will be very insistent and pushy, in an over-the-top way. I am not sure if it's a creative project that concerns you that needs funding, or a friend who needs money and won't take no for an answer. It also could be that the need to write a check is not related to friends, family, or a lover, but simply is needed to cover an obligation. The period from April 6 to 16 is tense about money, but improves later, so keep that in mind.

Socially, Venus will enter Gemini on April 3, increasing your popularity and good lucks, and lucky you, Venus will stay in Gemini until August 7. That's an unusually long time to have Venus at your side, but there's a reason for that - Venus is about to retrograde back and forth, and that explains the long time Venus will spend with you.

Venus will retrograde from May 15 to June 27, and during that phase will likely put your love life on of hold because Venus rules your solar fifth house. If you were going to get engaged for your birthday, I would recommend you change that timetable, and do so in late April or early May, prior to this turn of Venus. (In a minute I will explain the gorgeous new moon April 21, setting off a whole change of mood to the month, and bringing it from serious to sensational.

Venus is the planet of love, fun and, most importantly, affection and beauty / good looks, and you need Venus to be strong when you get engaged or married, or throw a big party or other fun event. You also need Venus direct when you are about to change your appearance. You would never want to do that with Venus retrograde, especially when Venus is in Gemini! That could turn out to be a disaster! Don't change your hair color or hairstyle, and avoid plastic surgery or other major moves from May 15 to June 27.

Then what happens if you were getting married during the Venus retrograde period and you can't change the date? I have an idea, which I agree is a little controversial. Consider getting married secretly when you go for your license at City Hall and then proceed with your original plans. Do not tell your family or friends you technically got married a day sooner - you need never celebrate that day. Marriage is a contract, and you need all conditions strong when you sign the papers.

It won't be a matter of choosing a day to pick up your license, but rather of choosing a day to actually get married and signing the papers at a City Hall ceremony. This month, I love April 23 for that purpose, when Mars and the Sun will be elegantly angled and the moon will be in Gemini. Or choose the following day, Tuesday, April 24, when Venus will conjoin the moon.

Now let's turn to a day that will be a bit somber and serious that I want to flag for you. Saturn will oppose to the Sun on April 15, making for one of the toughest days of the year. Your feelings for someone you deeply care for will be your focus. This may be a friend or sweetheart, or even child you love. One of these individuals may be on your mind, plus or minus two days from this date. This is another reason I don't want you to jump on activities just after Mars goes direct on April 13. When choosing a day to initiate anything, the outcome of that endeavor will hark back to the planets in the sky on the day you first initiated your actions. I want you to have the very strongest, most helpful planets surrounding you as possible.

Going back to April 15, whenever Saturn enters the picture, money will always become part of the conversation, because Saturn rules one of Gemini's financial sectors. To help the friend, sweetheart, or child you love, it seems you may have to write a large check, but it might be hard to do. There are other possible reasons you will be thinking about money. The eighth house (the one that Saturn rules) also rules taxes, so you may be told that you owe more than you thought, and may be worried about how to pay. If you can meet with your accountant prior to mid-month, that would help. The government will work with you if you need a payment plan, so if this proves to be true for you, it would be best if you call the tax people, rather than try to avoid them altogether. There is always an answer to every question.

Mars is now in your home-related sector, a good time to address the plans you've been dreaming about but had to keep delaying because other more pressing matters kept getting in the way. Now you can start, and make much quicker progress. You can renovate, paint, clean closets and clear out cutter, lease a new apartment, sell or buy a house, or order the contractors or a painter. Do so after April 16 (leaving some space from April 13). You will have until July 3 to finish these matters, or at least get things to the end of the first plateau if it is a multi-phase, large project. You need to work on your home while Mars is still in Virgo, and that's why I said July 3.

Now, with Mars is in strong shape, Mars will help you build both motivation and momentum. Pluto is in your credit / loan and other people's money sector, beautifully angled to Mars, and this suggests this month would be a good time to apply for a bank loan, a new or refinanced mortgage, or money from other sources. The money you may need for your home-related project will show up for you, so you won't likely encounter any serious obstacles in moving forward. Thank goodness for that!

If moving is in your plans, you might want to start looking as soon as Mercury and Mars go direct, as in the weeks ahead you will find spaces that genuinely excite you. You may not actually physically move, for example, until the start of September, but sometimes a change in residence, or the lease / sale / purchase of property, takes time to complete. Finally, dear Gemini, all systems are go!

Watch in particular the lovely day, April 23, when Mars and the Sun will cooperate - ideal for home-related actions!

Now we get to the BEST part of the month, the new moon, April 21, one of sweetest ones I have seen in a long time. This new moon will appear in Taurus, 2 degrees, in your house of strategic planning, and private and confidential matters. This would be an ideal time to work alone rather than in teams, for you will be at your best when you are by yourself, thinking, writing, or meditating. If you are working on a manuscript for a book or thesis, or planning a new advertising, public relations, or other campaign, try to be alone more than usual. You will have so much to show for your efforts.

You also will have an outstanding opportunity to take care of any health matters that you have been thinking about. Do you want to stop smoking? You have your number one new moon of the year to begin your program for great results. Any kind of rehab or psychological counseling, including hypnosis, would likely be successful.

Have you been meaning to get medical checkups, say, for your blood pressure, or to have an eye or dental exam? Set up all annual appointments at the new moon, April 21 and in the days that follow, all the way to May 5. This is such a sensational part of the year, you will be glad you took the time to make those calls.

In love, Venus in Gemini will bring out all your charms, so once Venus enters your sign on April 3 you will have quite a time fending off admirers until Venus shuts down for a nap May 15-June 27. (Happily, you will have from June 28 to August 7, so the period you spend with Venus will be long. She usually only allots four weeks to a sign, so you are about to get more than your share!)

One day I particularly love for you will be April 8, which also is Easter Sunday (just so you can remember) that will bring Venus and Uranus in the most delicious angle. This will be a day - or possibly a whole weekend, as we can include Saturday, too - filled with all the right surprises. I have to qualify this statement, as the full moon will fall on April 6, plus or minus four days, and therefore overlap this weekend. If you have a relationship and it's strong, you will have fun on this weekend. A child could also delight you, and spending time with one could turn out memorable.

Most romantic evenings: April 1, 4, 6 (plus or minus four days, wild card, could go either way), 8-9, 13-14. 18, 23-24, and 28-29.

Dear Gemini, so many Twitter readers have been asking when it will be Gemini's turn for love. Once Jupiter comes to Gemini in mid-June, you will begin your time to enjoy outstanding romance, far more than any you've had in past years, and this new phase will last a full year. Saturn has been asking you to work, not play, but Saturn only has a few more months to go before he will leave your fifth house of true love, October 4. At work, Neptune is now in Pisces for the coming 14 years, and will put your face "out there" for the world to see. Get ready for your close-up, dear Gemini - you may be asked to host a TV show, be the subject of a major new story, or be the spokesperson for your company or a product. Your talents for communication will be prized, something you may have noticed last month when the buzz began to build on your good work. Saturn is now bolstering all the work you are doing, making this a solid month to put in the elements of your long-range strategy.

Summary

Venus has moved into Gemini, and your popularity is on the rise. Venus will retrograde from May 15 to June 27, making this month very special. Lucky you, Venus will remain in Gemini a very long time, until early August. This is good news for you, as you will have a long stretch of heightened charisma and magnetism. It's a perfect month to think about circulating and for updating your appearance - Venus will ensure that the changes you make will bring you many compliments.

The full moon of Friday, April 6, will bring a romantic union or friendship relationship or episode to fullness over this ensuing weekend. How things will go will depend on how your relationship has been going all along, but it looks rather upbeat. If you can go away to a pretty setting with your one-and-only to enjoy the brighter daylight and warm weather, do, as a change of scene will allow you to recharge in the best possible way.

Money, however, seems to concern you at the full moon of April 6 and Pluto will be in hard angle to it, causing you to scramble for a way to find the money you need. Someone may be taking a hard line on a financial matter, and it might even strike you as outrageously wrong. Keep your head, and circle the wagons. After you have your supports around you, you'll be able to think clearly and make your moves in the third or fourth week of April, your best time to do so. It is also possible that you will owe money to cover a credit card or tax bill, and there's no way around it. Do the best you can to negotiate a payment plan if you can't pay.

Mars' will turn to direct, quick speed mid-month, so soon your home-related plans will take off. No matter if you hope to do something big (such as to move or renovate) or small (to paint, or add plants, a new piece of furniture, or other pretty touches) you will be able to move ahead now, without fear that plans will have to be suddenly put on hold again - they won't. The past six months have been a story of constant "stop and go" but from April 13 onward, Mars will start to ramp up to top speed in coming weeks. Dust off those blueprints for future plans!

At the new moon April 21, a confidential discussion seems to work strongly in your favor to help you find accord on a grand financial deal, thanks to the cooperation of Pluto, Mars, and Jupiter, all forming a grand triangle. You might get a mortgage (or refinance one); be awarded a bank loan, venture capital, or a student loan; or hear about an inheritance. Some sort of outside income that will arrive in one lump sum could help your cash flow enormously.

This new moon is so sensational that I also hope you will use it to further your health. The last ten days of April will give you an ideal chance to be highly productive when working on a writing or research project. You'll have so much to be proud to show later!

April 15, a difficult day for money, love, friendship, or career - don't have big talk then. Saturn will be opposed to the Sun.

Mars and the Sun in harmony bring home-related matter to a breakthrough April 23.

New moon in Taurus on April 21 makes it a great time to see a coach or therapist for discussion of dreams or fears, or to solve any private matters that press on your mind. It's also ideal to start scheduling checkups.

A Letter to My Readers From Susan Miller

A New Title to My Book, "The Year Ahead 2012 and Beyond"

The great sportswriter, Red Smith, once said, "There's nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and open a vein." Now we use computers to write, but the experience the same. Anyone who has ever written a book will agree, it's hard work, but ultimately the most satisfying work you could do on earth. I love to write.

I listened to all you had to say about last year's book. You wanted more pages. You wanted an annex on the nuances of Mercury Retrograde and also on How to Deal with Eclipses. I read what I had written before and that I had posted for you on my site, and those chapters were not good enough. I ripped those chapters apart and added a lot of new material in each. I added a short piece on December 21, 2012, which is the end date of the Mayan calendar and also addressed the controversy about whether you are the sign you think you are (yes), and also addressed whether there is another thirteenth sign (no), and explained why I feel the way I do.

When I was working on each of the signs, I saw that Jupiter would move into Gemini mid-year, to stay until the middle of 2013. When Neptune moved into Pisces on February 3, 2012, this year, this planet of imagination was to stay in Pisces for fourteen years, until January 26, 2026. When Pluto entered Capricorn in 2008, Pluto was prepared to stay - and work on our attitudes toward money - until 2024. Uranus entered Aries last March 11, 2012, to stay until March 6, 2019. Saturn is to move into Scorpio on October 4, 2012, this year, to stay until September 17, 2015. Not all years are the same. As I wrote, I realized in 2012 we were in a year of exceptional change, and each of us was about to transverse from one shore to another. As we gradually cross that bridge, we all would be in the process of saying goodbye to much of our past and walking bravely toward a very new future. It took me time to make sense of all this planetary traffic. Not all signs would feel the shifts of all the planets. For example, Aquarius would feel the move of Uranus to Aries very directly (as Uranus is this sign's ruler), but not be as affected by Pluto in Capricorn. I wanted to pinpoint what was new and fresh with the times we were living in, for no one wants a rerun of past years - and happily I found plenty of evidence of that.

As I wrote, I asked my publisher that we change the name of my book, from the "Year Ahead 2012" to the "Year Ahead 2012 and Beyond." I was spending time looking ahead, and discussing the change in attitude and societal shift some of these planets would have, but I also wanted to look back, to show you where you've been. You are never born brand new into any emerging year, of course, for you bring joys, disappointments, fears, victories, dreams, and a host of experiences and emotions with you into the New Year. Those have to be acknowledged too, so I worked hard at not just trying to walk in your shoes but to actually become you as I wrote, and to see the world as you do, through your eyes, in the light of all your recent experiences as told to me by the planet's positions.

I feel being active on Twitter has made me a better astrologer. I read your posts, and because tweets are short, I can see a great many of your thoughts and experiences. Writing my Year Ahead 2012 Illustrated Calendar (with fine artist Gloria Vanderbilt's work) was a good way for me to carefully study the year's details. I had to first memorize all the planetary positions, and like a forensic scientist see how the planets interconnected with one another to create change.

I saw, for example, that Jupiter was going into Gemini, and that the eclipses in Gemini-Sagittarius this year were destined to speed the progress of Jupiter's good work. New eclipses in the family of Scorpio-Taurus would later work with Saturn, once he moves into Scorpio in October. Uranus and Pluto meanwhile will work to give birth to a new world order. I had discussed that in my essay in my Year Ahead 2012 Calendar, and I don't use the same essays in the book and the calendar. In the front of my book, I hope you will see the essays I wrote on the feel of the year, and how it differs from last year. All kinds of connections were occurring to me, as I saw how the planets were working, not independently, but inter-dependently, to sweep out the old and outmoded, and to bring light to areas of society that need to be addressed.

This week, I will be writing the chapter on Pisces, my last chapter of the book. After that, the book will be done. Each chapter is massive, at least four times or more of the size you are used to seeing in Astrology Zone. We are attempting to put my work into your hands by the new moon April 21, at least digitally. Kindle and Nook will be the first to publish the book, and we are working with a new content manager at Apple, and hope we won't suffer the delays that we had on the iPad last year due to the way manuscripts move through the publication process at Apple. We are learning.

My publisher, Arthur Heydendael, is printing a traditional paper book very quickly. Creative director Jackie Meyer, the former Creative Director of Warner Books, is laying out the quality paperback version of my book. Jackie did the layout of all my calendars and also designed my book last year. I hope you will keep this year's book, as some of the material will be relevant to you in years to come.

I deeply appreciate your patience and support. Writing a book would be a tad easier if I weren't writing 45,000 words for Astrology Zone each month, but I love writing my forecasts for you each month, and I am cheered by knowing that at least you have had all the information you have needed as you awaited the finish of my book.

Discover your rising sign, the most important element to learn!

If you are a longtime reader, you know that I am careful about not sending lots of newsletters. You are busy, so when I write to you, I will always have a good reason - to share important news you can use. In my newsletters I will discuss astrology and philosophical topics. I will also make one or two announcements. You will not get "spam" from me - I don't like getting those kinds of emails, and I won't send you anything I would not want to receive myself.

Your name and email address will never be sold, lent, or given away. I value your privacy. I see my newsletter, as well as Twitter, as a good way for you and me to stay in touch.

It's fun for me to have a venue like a newsletter to discuss topics at length that would not quite go on Astrology Zone.
