Libra Horoscope for April 2012

As a Libra, you are very sensitive to the concept of fairness, and you honestly expect to find it in all the endeavors and relationships you encounter. Most people in the world are fair, but unfortunately, not all. This month you seem to encounter a person who does not share your worldview or possess your refined level of character. There will be two difficult moments this month, once on the full moon April 6 (plus or minus five days) and later on a certain aspect April 15, but once you deal with those, you will be well on your way to enjoying the gifts that Jupiter has for you, to arrive later, by the time you get to the third week of April. Keep that in mind - in April, the hard part comes first, and then the sweet part follows. The new moon of April 21 is one of the best of the year!

Let's start with some good news. Mercury has been retrograde since March 15, and will go direct on April 4. Say goodbye to the delays and technological difficulties you've dealt with since last month. You can sign contracts after April 4, but I would prefer you wait a bit longer, until after this high-energy planet, Mars, turns direct on April 13.

Mars works with all the other planets - and with you - to give your ventures and relationships the proper lift off. Without Mars, it's a little like having a car with no gasoline (or any other energy source) to make it go, so you kind of creep along the highway, puttering at the speed of a little snail. You have been experiencing what life is like without a strong Mars, for Mars has been retrograde since January 23.

Think back to that date, January 23, and the days that closely circled that date - was something important happening to you back then? Now, when Mars goes direct, whatever "stopped" or blocked or held in limbo at that time will be released. If you have any planets at 23 degrees Virgo in your natal chart, you will likely see evidence of change and progress now, too, this month.

Mars has been moving through your twelfth house since mid-November 2011 and there are many possible manifestations of how Mars has been working in your life. You may have been planning for a big launch of a product or service, but have had to keep things under wraps since Mars first entered Virgo in mid-November - it looks as though things are not yet cooked. The twelfth house is a hidden house, associated with secrets, and in my mind's eye, I see a general getting ready and perfecting his campaign, developing his strategy or all the tactics he will use to lift off his plan successfully - this has been you. If you did not get anything set over the past months (since January 23) you were wise to wait for Mars, the warrior planet, to turn from retrograde to direct April 13.

It is also possible that you went in for rehab or therapy with a professional therapist and have been making a lot of progress. Mercury retrograde, and Mars retrograde, is a great time to be digging through the past. If you went into the hospital or physical therapy during the time this trend started - November 15 - you no doubt made quite a bit of progress. (The same would be true if you were helping a friend or relative who was ill and needed treatment in one of these facilities.) With Mars going direct now, you will make even more progress. If you were studying a new subject, or writing an important paper, Mars in Virgo signified a period of leaning and preparation. In this and all the other cases, you will be ready to roll on or just after the date Mars leaves Virgo, July 3.

A full moon in Libra, 17 degrees, will occur on April 6 and will make you very aware of your feelings about a matter that is deeply personal to you. Something is coming to a full point or ending, bringing energy, information, and feelings out in the open so that a final decision can be made. This full moon will occur in sharp angle to Pluto, so a property matter (rental or owned) or a family member may upset you - it could be one person or group of people. Pluto points to powerful people with almost unlimited authority, so, for example, it could be that a co-op or condo board, or zoning ordinance, may become difficult. Or, you may come up against a difficult landlord or property tax board member. There is also some indication at this full moon that your partner is also expressing an opinion on what is going on, and instead of clarifying the situation, your partner is making it a bit more complicated.

I am not sure if you will see eye to eye with your partner at this time. The link to "home" or "property" (your things versus mine) could mean that you are moving out, but I am not sure if that means you are moving into a new space together, or that you will be breaking up with your sweetheart (with whom you've shared an apartment or house), and packing up to leave. If you are breaking up, it seems to be your idea, not one thrust on you.

If you have been in talks about a divorce for some time, the money that I see coming to you in the later part of April could be as a result of a division of property in a divorce - and in that case the resulting sum would be quite generous - but still, you seem to be met with a rather intense debate about land and property or a condo part of the settlement. Keep talking, as later in the month things will start to go in your favor.

If you were born on October 9, plus or minus five degrees, you will feel the affects of this full moon by noticing some sort of force around you attempts to make you fit into a certain dictate that someone has decided upon.

Now we get to another tense point, with the opposition of the Sun to Saturn on April 15. On this day, the discussion you had earlier at the full moon, April 6, seems to come up for debate again, or you will see a final action. This seems to be a depressing or arduous day, when property, home, and real estate is again on the table. If you sell a house or condo on this day, you might do so at a loss, just to get the property off your hands. If this is not your intention, I would suggest you wait just a week or two for another buyer.

Financially, things will improve in a big way once you get to the new moon, Saturday, April 21. That new moon will be in the same house as the mighty Sun and Jupiter, and be beautifully oriented toward Pluto. This is why I feel it's worth waiting to find the right buyer, or to keep negotiating a home / property plan until the third to fourth week of the month.

Mars will move into perfect alignment on Monday, April 23, and unlock more money for you then under a meeting that you will be required to keep what is discussed very confidential, and indeed, the meeting itself may have to be confidential.

Romantically, Venus enters Gemini on April 3, enchanting news for you, because Gemini is a fellow air sign. This will make late April and early May a great time for experimenting with - and changing - your appearance. You have time, as Venus will remain in this wonderful-for-Libra sign until August 7.

Within this period, however you need to block out the time when Venus will sleep in retrograde motion from May 15 to June 27. That is not the best time to meet someone new, so instead, socialize in late April when things will be so bright for you! When Venus retrogrades, you may find the chemistry off - and in time, the relationship may lack affection. Circulate just after April 21, when you have such a perfect time to meet someone new.

Venus rules love, fun, and good looks, so you would not want to change your looks when Venus is in a dizzy, sleepy state! Also, Venus rules money, so it's critical that you wrap up financial deals in advance of May 15.

You can travel and enjoy your trip so very much this month, and travel will grow even more in importance next month - wait and see! Venus, now in Gemini, will be touring your ninth house of travel soon, so you may be quite busy planning your getaway all month. It's a great idea. Life is about to get better with each passing month. Stay optimistic!

Summary

You've been shouldering many responsibilities over the past two years, and no doubt you've encountered obstacles. Dear Libra, you've met them head on and you are doing well, so congratulate yourself. Saturn is the culprit here, but Saturn will soon be leaving, in just six months. By early October you will be done, and you will not see Saturn in Libra on your Sun again for twenty-nine years. During those coming nearly three decades, you will carry within you all that you learned during these years.

Financially you are about to see a generous bounty of money flow to you, and this will happen in the days (or as much as two weeks) that follow April 21. The cash that you see may be related to a real estate matter that you had discussed earlier in the month, near the full moon, April 6. You may sell your house or condo or be awarded a mortgage but if you sell, you may sell below the price you had hoped. If you can wait until later in the month, April 21, you are likely to do better. If you are buying a house, with Saturn opposed to the Sun this month (and especially near April 15), make sure you don't buy a house that costs more than you can afford. The financial responsibility you take on now could prove to be burdensome and long term, so be conservative in all financial dealings.

Venus, your ruler, will retrograde from May 15 to June 27, so it would be critical to make your biggest financial decisions before that happens. If you have already opened talks and are waiting, then close on matters this month, after the new moon April 21.

Your closest relationship might be a bit problematic as you begin the month, but you will have a chance to clear the air at the full moon in Libra, April 6, plus or minus four days. A matter involving parents (yours or your partner's parents) or a housing / home / property matter will become sticky. Pluto is involved, so you may even feel that a domineering person, board, or institution is treating you unfairly. Fortunately, Libra is a master at diplomacy, so you likely can find the right answer despite how upset you may feel. You may also be at odds on April 15, a Sunday, plus or minus four days, but again, it's good to have each side voice opinions.

If you break up this month, it appears one of you will be moving out, as property and relationships seem to be joined closely together.

What you may lack is a measure of fun - it could be that simple. Venus' move into Gemini will be a big boost to your love life, and because this month romance will be enhanced by travel, it behooves you to find a location you can become excited about and then pack and go. Chose a paradise isle with pink sands, or a bustling overseas city that brims with culture. Your aim should be to spin a memory with the one you love that neither of you will ever forget. No romantic partner? You have a good chance of meeting someone special on this trip.

Being away from your usual base together will also generate lively conversation with your partner (if you have one), especially near April 22. Ideas you come up with will be dazzlers.

Dates to Note for Libra:

Most romantic evenings: April 1, 6 (wild card, could break up under this full moon or come closer), 8, 9, 14, 23, 24, 28, and 29.

Full moon in Libra April 6 (operative plus or minus four days) brings something of enormous importance to you to a finish. A real estate matter or person, connected to your home (such as your landlord or condo board) could become troublesome.

Mercury goes direct April 4, no more delays!

Venus in beautiful angle to Uranus on April 8 could be great for single Libras - look your best, as you may meet someone!

April 13 after weeks of being retrograde, Mars goes direct. Money matters will be easier to manage from now on. Give Mars some time to ramp up.

You may encounter partnership or housing / property problems on April 15.

The new moon April 21 brings enormously good news about a chunk of money dueyou in the weeks that follow.

Thanks to Neptune and the Sun, on April 22, creativity will glow for you. Take time to work on your craft, for you could make a profit.

April 23 is a good day to talk over anything inside that has worried you. It's also an ideal time to make money.

The home-related person or matter that worried you earlier may have a sudden turnaround to better news, thanks to the Sun and Pluto in agreement on April 21, plus two weeks, and also when the Sun and Pluto is so beautifully angled, on April 29.

A Letter to My Readers From Susan Miller

A New Title to My Book, "The Year Ahead 2012 and Beyond"

The great sportswriter, Red Smith, once said, "There's nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and open a vein." Now we use computers to write, but the experience the same. Anyone who has ever written a book will agree, it's hard work, but ultimately the most satisfying work you could do on earth. I love to write.

I listened to all you had to say about last year's book. You wanted more pages. You wanted an annex on the nuances of Mercury Retrograde and also on How to Deal with Eclipses. I read what I had written before and that I had posted for you on my site, and those chapters were not good enough. I ripped those chapters apart and added a lot of new material in each. I added a short piece on December 21, 2012, which is the end date of the Mayan calendar and also addressed the controversy about whether you are the sign you think you are (yes), and also addressed whether there is another thirteenth sign (no), and explained why I feel the way I do.

When I was working on each of the signs, I saw that Jupiter would move into Gemini mid-year, to stay until the middle of 2013. When Neptune moved into Pisces on February 3, 2012, this year, this planet of imagination was to stay in Pisces for fourteen years, until January 26, 2026. When Pluto entered Capricorn in 2008, Pluto was prepared to stay - and work on our attitudes toward money - until 2024. Uranus entered Aries last March 11, 2012, to stay until March 6, 2019. Saturn is to move into Scorpio on October 4, 2012, this year, to stay until September 17, 2015. Not all years are the same. As I wrote, I realized in 2012 we were in a year of exceptional change, and each of us was about to transverse from one shore to another. As we gradually cross that bridge, we all would be in the process of saying goodbye to much of our past and walking bravely toward a very new future. It took me time to make sense of all this planetary traffic. Not all signs would feel the shifts of all the planets. For example, Aquarius would feel the move of Uranus to Aries very directly (as Uranus is this sign's ruler), but not be as affected by Pluto in Capricorn. I wanted to pinpoint what was new and fresh with the times we were living in, for no one wants a rerun of past years - and happily I found plenty of evidence of that.

As I wrote, I asked my publisher that we change the name of my book, from the "Year Ahead 2012" to the "Year Ahead 2012 and Beyond." I was spending time looking ahead, and discussing the change in attitude and societal shift some of these planets would have, but I also wanted to look back, to show you where you've been. You are never born brand new into any emerging year, of course, for you bring joys, disappointments, fears, victories, dreams, and a host of experiences and emotions with you into the New Year. Those have to be acknowledged too, so I worked hard at not just trying to walk in your shoes but to actually become you as I wrote, and to see the world as you do, through your eyes, in the light of all your recent experiences as told to me by the planet's positions.

I feel being active on Twitter has made me a better astrologer. I read your posts, and because tweets are short, I can see a great many of your thoughts and experiences. Writing my Year Ahead 2012 Illustrated Calendar (with fine artist Gloria Vanderbilt's work) was a good way for me to carefully study the year's details. I had to first memorize all the planetary positions, and like a forensic scientist see how the planets interconnected with one another to create change.

I saw, for example, that Jupiter was going into Gemini, and that the eclipses in Gemini-Sagittarius this year were destined to speed the progress of Jupiter's good work. New eclipses in the family of Scorpio-Taurus would later work with Saturn, once he moves into Scorpio in October. Uranus and Pluto meanwhile will work to give birth to a new world order. I had discussed that in my essay in my Year Ahead 2012 Calendar, and I don't use the same essays in the book and the calendar. In the front of my book, I hope you will see the essays I wrote on the feel of the year, and how it differs from last year. All kinds of connections were occurring to me, as I saw how the planets were working, not independently, but inter-dependently, to sweep out the old and outmoded, and to bring light to areas of society that need to be addressed.

This week, I will be writing the chapter on Pisces, my last chapter of the book. After that, the book will be done. Each chapter is massive, at least four times or more of the size you are used to seeing in Astrology Zone. We are attempting to put my work into your hands by the new moon April 21, at least digitally. Kindle and Nook will be the first to publish the book, and we are working with a new content manager at Apple, and hope we won't suffer the delays that we had on the iPad last year due to the way manuscripts move through the publication process at Apple. We are learning.

My publisher, Arthur Heydendael, is printing a traditional paper book very quickly. Creative director Jackie Meyer, the former Creative Director of Warner Books, is laying out the quality paperback version of my book. Jackie did the layout of all my calendars and also designed my book last year. I hope you will keep this year's book, as some of the material will be relevant to you in years to come.

I deeply appreciate your patience and support. Writing a book would be a tad easier if I weren't writing 45,000 words for Astrology Zone each month, but I love writing my forecasts for you each month, and I am cheered by knowing that at least you have had all the information you have needed as you awaited the finish of my book.
