Sagittarius Horoscope for April 2012

What a sensational change in events! When it comes to your career, you must have been feeling like you were walking through glue in recent months. No matter how you tried, it was nearly impossible for you to make progress, as other people whose approvals you needed were either unreachable, indecisive, or confused about whether or not to take the next step with you. You likely had to backtrack a bit to figure out what was holding you back - education, more references, more political support for your projects in the office - you get the idea. It seems you've done the necessary studying and tweaking of the situation and you are ready to move forward when Mars bolts forward on April 13.

Mercury has also been retrograde too, and that planet also caused dozens of frustrating delays as well, especially since, for Sagittarius, Mercury RULES your tenth house of fame, the same place sleepy Mars has been lounging around. As you see, you've had two little drunk planets messing up your career progress, but soon, this will no longer be a problem. Both planets will be in fine form by April 13, and you will see a noticeable pickup in career opportunities. You are primed for a victory, dear Sagittarius.

I should add that any planet that has been retrograde needs a little time to ramp up. Mars will take until June to get to moving as rapidly as he had been doing in late 2011, but the point is, Mars won't be pulling you backward any more. It's rare for Mars to go retrograde, and when he does, it's like trying to send a rocket to the moon with too little fuel in the tank. In situations like that, it is hard to get anything off the launching pad.

Mercury rules agreements and contracts (even verbal ones), and so if you had pushed things and signed in the past three-and-a-half weeks (since March 12), you would have a contract that will likely need to be renegotiated - something about the promises made will not be fulfilled, or the whole purpose of the relationship will not be realized. Signing with Mars retrograde can also be problematic, if you do so, it won't have the passionate push behind it. It's SO important to get all these planets in place. I suggest, for best results, you wait for the new moon, April 21 to sign.

It's possible that you MIGHT have to wait until mid-September to find your dream career. You will need a new moon in your fame sector if you are looking for a new job, and there'll be a very special one then. Last month Sagittarius had a spectacular full moon in the career sector, March 8, so you may have seen a development within four days of that date.

Still, the April 21 new moon will bring you interesting assignments, so if you 1) don't mind taking a job on a level similar to the one you had before, or 2) are self-employed and would like to pick up new business, then this new moon will be magic for you. There is also the possibility that 3) you may take on a temporary project that you like and that bridges you to September, when you can start to get more of the kind of offers that would acknowledge your growing stature in your industry.

I like September regarding your career progress for another reason. When looking for a professional opportunity, we always hope the salary will be commensurate with the responsibilities given. Pluto will retrograde in your salary sector on April 10, so the money offered may become a little bit of an obstacle for the coming five months.

Those close-to-Earth "personal" planets include Mercury, Venus, and Mars, and they have a much more direct, personal effect on you. Big outer planets like Pluto do not have as strong an effect when retrograde as those smaller, closer-to-the-Earth "personal" planets have when retrograde. I still have to weigh this, because as Pluto is the only planet in your house of earned income, Pluto will remain there for literally years, and no other planets is due to stop by for many months - after September.

Big planets take five months or so to turn around to get out of retrograde, so Pluto won't go direct until Tuesday, September 17. That will be just two days after the powerful new moon in your prestigious tenth house career sector, Saturday, September 15. You see why I am looking at mid-September as a point when your career should take off beautifully, with many offers coming to you in the two weeks that follow that new moon.

For now, let's keep our attention on the glorious new moon of April 21. That new moon in Taurus, 2 degrees, will be FANTASTIC for your career, so let's keep focused on this month's aspects and make them work for you. Mars, found at the tip-top of your chart, in your house of fame and honors, will signal Pluto in your second house of salary and your sixth house, holding the Sun and new moon, forming a golden triangle of extraordinary good fortune and harmony. Mars holds the linchpin here, as it is positioned so high in your chart, it will act like a beacon of light in the depths of night.

Mars is also the natural ruler of your fifth house of creativity, so if you are in a creative field (as the artist or in a supporting staff job aiding the creative effort, from any department, say accounting or marketing), you will have double the luck.

This same new moon coming at the END of April, April 21, will also have a beneficial effect on your health. This is the one-time best point to start a fitness program. Beach weather is almost upon us, so you may want to start getting more fit, or if you ARE already fit, to find ways to ratchet up another notch. You still have Jupiter in this part of your chart, but he will leave on June 11. Having Jupiter in the sixth house (a once-in-12-year trend) is, in my findings, the best place to have Jupiter to lose weight and get fit. You can revamp your eating and exercise habits and start to look so good that friends will want to know what your secret is!

Monday, April 23, will be a dazzler of a day for career interviews OR for medical / dental or other health procedures when the Sun and Mars trade golden beams. It's a wow of a day for these matters, and for boosting your creative efforts, too. You can use this day too, for health-oriented actions and decisions.

Circle, too, April 27 to April 30 for great days to discuss salary needs with a top person. With Pluto and the Sun so congenial, you are likely to see the day go exceptionally well.

April will have a distinctly social feel too, with some very positive developments, and some, not such good news. On the plus side, you have Venus entering your committed relationship sector on April 3 to stay until August 7, a very long visit for Venus. Once there, Venus will improve the quality of your daily interaction, as that is what she does so well. Venus will make your relationships (of all kinds) smoother, softer, and more caring. In love, Venus will have the power to bring you closer and to help you see the finer qualities in your partner.

Soon Venus will retrograde from May 15 to June 27, a time when you would not want to advance your looks or your relationship. When Venus is retrograde, she withholds her powers, and both areas suffer - affection and appearance. For example: You would not want to choose May 15 to June 27 to have plastic surgery or to change your hairstyle in any radical way. Venus rules beauty, and when sleeping, you can't access her finest powers, so that would be a very bad time for plastic surgery or to experiment with your hair. You may not like the results.

In love, it's not considered a good time to get engaged or married, or even to meet anyone new when Venus is out of phase. That's not going to happen until mid-May through the end of June, but if you are getting married then, you may want to have a secret ceremony at City Hall and technically get married on a good day, say, April 24. You would never celebrate that day, but keep it a secret between you and your partner. You would go ahead and "marry" on any date you chose a long time ago, and always celebrate that day in the future. The City Hall date will become your legal marriage date in the eyes of the city or country in which you wed - and also in terms of astrology, avoiding the Venus retrograde.

Now let's look at the full moon, April 6, in Libra, 17 degrees. This full moon will bring a culmination to your house of hopes and wishes, and of social events. It puts a big spotlight on a friend or new people you will meet at this time. Money seems to be a major consideration at the time. Let's say you promised to come to a friend's destination wedding and the cost of attending has continued to climb, so much so that you are now wondering how you are going to afford to go. You seem to be taking your promises seriously at this time, so it looks like you will go ahead with plans - just try to do so in a financially savvy way.

If your birthday falls on December 8-9 or so, plus or minus five days, you will feel this full moon the most, and benefit most from it.

Just a few days later, Sunday, April 8, Venus and Uranus will send one another sparkling vibrations, bringing feelings of love and fun to the surface over the weekend of April 7-8. This is a really sweet vibration, so if you are single, or even if you are dating seriously, you are likely to feel the ping of Cupid's arrow from your partner, or if not dating, someone new. Put a star on this weekend, April 7 - 8.

By April 15 we have one of the hardest days of the year, Saturn opposed to the Sun. Again, your social life is highlighted, but I am not sure if it is a romantic partner or friend who takes your full attention, but someone seems to be on your mind. This person may be critical or use harsh words, and it may make you wonder if you want to be in the relationship at all. Fortunately, this opposition of Saturn and the Sun will be in Libra and Aries, signs that blend well with yours, so this indicates you may be able to find a way to smooth things out. It is alternatively possible that a male near you will be suffering (as indicated by the presence of the Sun).

Finally, with such a beautiful new moon in your sixth house on April 21, you might want to consider adding a new little pet to your household. Little domestic animals come under the sixth house, so this will be one of the best times of the year to go down to the animal shelter to choose a new little dog or cat for you. You will have two weeks to decide, but I suggest you go over the most brilliant weekend for doing something as major as this, on April 21-23, your best days. You are due to find a little creature that seems to call out to you, "Take me home!"

Summary

Your career is very important to you, and you've been working very hard, but in recent months, you may have found it hard to make progress. Although Mars is currently in your solar tenth house of fame, considered a prime spot to make impressive strides, Mars has been retrograde since January 23. You may have felt, when it comes to professional interests, that you have been walking down an "up" escalator - and getting nowhere fast. That will change now that Mars is going direct on April 13. Give Mars some time to get up to speed, as it will take several weeks to get to where he was at the end of 2011. Mercury has been retrograde too, and will turn direct April 4, so in many ways, when it comes to your career, things are looking up.

If you work for yourself, you can garner many new clients with Jupiter in your solar sixth house of work - watch the new moon of April 21 plus two weeks to see proof of how much the market values your services. One of your very best days of all of April to schedule a meeting that concerns your career or business, or to present a creative idea for approval, will be April 23.

Have you been thinking about getting more fit and healthy? You've had a busy few months, and you may have skipped gym visits. The new moon of April 21 and the two weeks to follow will be great for business, but it will also help to motivate you to become fitter and stronger. If you recommit to fitness goals within the week that follows (best days April 21-23), you will see results that please you in short order.

Romantically, you will need time to relax and enjoy life, and the full moon of April 6 will likely bring a major social event over the weekend of April 7-8. Due to Pluto in hard angle to that full moon, you may be concerned with the cost of attending, but doing so seems to be worthwhile, as Venus and Uranus will be beautifully oriented during that time of the month, ensuring a lot of fun. If you are single, you might meet someone quite interesting at that event - someone you'd like to know better.

Are you attached? Avoid the "big talk" with your sweetheart on the world's potentially most frustrating (even possibly depressing) day of the year, when Saturn and the Sun meet face-to-face, cutting across your houses of love and wishes on April 15. This is a day to hide, not confront anyone!

Don't give up on love, though, for with Venus about to spend an exceptionally long time in your seventh house of marriage (until early August), Sagittarians who are in a committed, long-term relationship will have a lively, encouraging edge.

Looking at the long view, your sign still will have to contend with eclipses in Sagittarius and Gemini from now through May 2013, and eclipses always bring news and revelations. The next pressure point is due with the lunar eclipse June 4. Eclipses are famous for bringing truth to the surface as suddenly as a geyser out of the ground in Yosemite, but if no problems exist, the eclipse will have nothing to reveal. With Venus so positive this month, you have the perfect opportunity to smooth out differences with your partner, before those differences grow.

Single Sagittarius have reason to be optimistic, too - Mars rules your solar fifth house of love, so with this month's stronger Mars, you'll have a stronger presence on the dating scene. It's all good news, dear Sagittarius.

Most romantic evenings: April 1, 2, 6 (full moon), 9, 11, 13, 18, 23, 24, and 28-29.

Mercury goes direct April 4, no more delays!

Mars goes direct on April 13 and from then on, both love and career will go far, far better than it has over past weeks. Give Mars time to ramp up - by May he will be in best form.

April 9 will be a glamorous day for love and fun, especially if single, thanks to the teaming up of Venus and Uranus, both in your house of true love! Your creativity will be on fire, too.

Pluto will retrograde on April 10, and that may slow your ability to bring in more business (if self-employed) or more money in your paycheck (If you work for others). Pluto will go direct September 17.

The full moon April 6 may bring a big social event, but you may feel forced to spend more than you had hoped to spend. See how you feel.

The new moon of April 21 will be a terrific time to start a new fitness program. Get started! Join a gym or buy a package of training sessions. You may want to join a weight loss group or see a nutritionist. All health matters improve after this date.

If making a pitch or presentation to bring in more money, do so on April 27, near the friendly conversations of the Sun and Pluto on April 29.

A Letter to My Readers From Susan Miller

A New Title to My Book, "The Year Ahead 2012 and Beyond"

The great sportswriter, Red Smith, once said, "There's nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and open a vein." Now we use computers to write, but the experience the same. Anyone who has ever written a book will agree, it's hard work, but ultimately the most satisfying work you could do on earth. I love to write.

I listened to all you had to say about last year's book. You wanted more pages. You wanted an annex on the nuances of Mercury Retrograde and also on How to Deal with Eclipses. I read what I had written before and that I had posted for you on my site, and those chapters were not good enough. I ripped those chapters apart and added a lot of new material in each. I added a short piece on December 21, 2012, which is the end date of the Mayan calendar and also addressed the controversy about whether you are the sign you think you are (yes), and also addressed whether there is another thirteenth sign (no), and explained why I feel the way I do.

When I was working on each of the signs, I saw that Jupiter would move into Gemini mid-year, to stay until the middle of 2013. When Neptune moved into Pisces on February 3, 2012, this year, this planet of imagination was to stay in Pisces for fourteen years, until January 26, 2026. When Pluto entered Capricorn in 2008, Pluto was prepared to stay - and work on our attitudes toward money - until 2024. Uranus entered Aries last March 11, 2012, to stay until March 6, 2019. Saturn is to move into Scorpio on October 4, 2012, this year, to stay until September 17, 2015. Not all years are the same. As I wrote, I realized in 2012 we were in a year of exceptional change, and each of us was about to transverse from one shore to another. As we gradually cross that bridge, we all would be in the process of saying goodbye to much of our past and walking bravely toward a very new future. It took me time to make sense of all this planetary traffic. Not all signs would feel the shifts of all the planets. For example, Aquarius would feel the move of Uranus to Aries very directly (as Uranus is this sign's ruler), but not be as affected by Pluto in Capricorn. I wanted to pinpoint what was new and fresh with the times we were living in, for no one wants a rerun of past years - and happily I found plenty of evidence of that.

As I wrote, I asked my publisher that we change the name of my book, from the "Year Ahead 2012" to the "Year Ahead 2012 and Beyond." I was spending time looking ahead, and discussing the change in attitude and societal shift some of these planets would have, but I also wanted to look back, to show you where you've been. You are never born brand new into any emerging year, of course, for you bring joys, disappointments, fears, victories, dreams, and a host of experiences and emotions with you into the New Year. Those have to be acknowledged too, so I worked hard at not just trying to walk in your shoes but to actually become you as I wrote, and to see the world as you do, through your eyes, in the light of all your recent experiences as told to me by the planet's positions.

I feel being active on Twitter has made me a better astrologer. I read your posts, and because tweets are short, I can see a great many of your thoughts and experiences. Writing my Year Ahead 2012 Illustrated Calendar (with fine artist Gloria Vanderbilt's work) was a good way for me to carefully study the year's details. I had to first memorize all the planetary positions, and like a forensic scientist see how the planets interconnected with one another to create change.

I saw, for example, that Jupiter was going into Gemini, and that the eclipses in Gemini-Sagittarius this year were destined to speed the progress of Jupiter's good work. New eclipses in the family of Scorpio-Taurus would later work with Saturn, once he moves into Scorpio in October. Uranus and Pluto meanwhile will work to give birth to a new world order. I had discussed that in my essay in my Year Ahead 2012 Calendar, and I don't use the same essays in the book and the calendar. In the front of my book, I hope you will see the essays I wrote on the feel of the year, and how it differs from last year. All kinds of connections were occurring to me, as I saw how the planets were working, not independently, but inter-dependently, to sweep out the old and outmoded, and to bring light to areas of society that need to be addressed.

This week, I will be writing the chapter on Pisces, my last chapter of the book. After that, the book will be done. Each chapter is massive, at least four times or more of the size you are used to seeing in Astrology Zone. We are attempting to put my work into your hands by the new moon April 21, at least digitally. Kindle and Nook will be the first to publish the book, and we are working with a new content manager at Apple, and hope we won't suffer the delays that we had on the iPad last year due to the way manuscripts move through the publication process at Apple. We are learning.

My publisher, Arthur Heydendael, is printing a traditional paper book very quickly. Creative director Jackie Meyer, the former Creative Director of Warner Books, is laying out the quality paperback version of my book. Jackie did the layout of all my calendars and also designed my book last year. I hope you will keep this year's book, as some of the material will be relevant to you in years to come.

I deeply appreciate your patience and support. Writing a book would be a tad easier if I weren't writing 45,000 words for Astrology Zone each month, but I love writing my forecasts for you each month, and I am cheered by knowing that at least you have had all the information you have needed as you awaited the finish of my book.

Discover your rising sign, the most important element to learn!

If you don't know your rising sign, you won't get quite as much out of my monthly forecasts on Astrology Zone or my daily forecasts on cell phones (or delivered to your email box daily by Daily Astrology Zone). If you are a longtime reader, you know that I am careful about not sending lots of newsletters. Your name and email address will never be sold, lent, or given away. I value your privacy. I see my newsletter, as well as Twitter, as a good way for you and me to stay in touch.

It's fun for me to have a venue like a newsletter to discuss topics at length that would not quite go on Astrology Zone.
