Scorpio Horoscope for April 2012

Scorpio is known to be a loner, but this month you will see that there is at least one, if not more than one, person in your life that you would like to align with in a close, serious partnership. There are two reasons, of course, that you might be thinking along the lines of merging energies - romantic or business. If you are thinking of coming closer in a romantic alliance, you may be ready to become engaged or married, or on a simpler level, to make a promise of exclusivity to each other. In business, you may be ready to form an official business partnership, joint venture, or special one-on-one collaboration. Alternatively, you may be ready to hire a manager, agent, new accountant, lawyer, or doctor. Any expert or professional you hire would come under the area of your chart - the seventh house - that will be brilliantly lit later this month.

The new moon of April 21, in Taurus, 2 degrees, is simply divine, perfect for every reason that involves bonding closer with a person you trust, and if the partnership is romantic, whom you love. There are three friendly planets providing gifts to your venture. First, there's your ruler, Mars in your house of hopes and wishes, sending beautiful vibrations to your ruler, Pluto, in your house of communication and agreements, and both will simultaneously send their greetings to the Sun and new moon. This forms one of those rare golden triangles that we don't see that often but that are so heavenly. The alliance you may be forming now bodes so well for a long and very successful future!

If your birthday falls on October 24, plus or minus five days, you will do exceedingly well with this new moon. If you have your natal chart, and you have natal planets at 2 degrees of Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn, Cancer, Scorpio, or Pisces, the same is true for you - you are likely to feel benefits, too. In truth, I feel ALL Scorpios will do well!

Your timing will be perfect, too. Last month, Mercury was retrograde, and your ruler, Mars, was as well. When a planet retrogrades, it slows down the gears of everyday life, but its most useful function is to warn you that things are changing on the road up ahead. Those changes involve many dynamics in the environment you are operating in. If you make a decision based on what you think you know, rather than what is about to be revealed, you may be sorry, especially under Mercury retrograde periods. Mercury retrograde causes problems in commerce and agreements, and shows worn parts in machines and computers. Now you can give your verbal or written answer on a number of pending offers, and you can shop again too, for Mercury will go direct on April 4. Still, I would like you to wait.

On April 13, Mars, your secondary ruler, will turn direct too. Mars is the booster rocket to all plans, endeavors, and relationships, and without Mars' help everything goes very slowly, if at all. There is no gas! Also, because Mars is in your friendship house now, you will get far more help from friends from April 13 onward than you have in the past.

Think back to the date he turned retrograde on January 23. Did something happen then that seemed to put everything on hold? Often a planet will speak in "code" at the time it retrogrades, but if you pay attention, you can see what the planet is telling you. Now that very same situation may see a big change or development, very near (coming after) April 13. Additionally, if you have any planets at 23 degrees Virgo, the degree Mars turned retrograde back in January, that planet is also sensitized. For example, those with birthdays that fall on November 14 absolutely have something in their charts at 23 degrees - your Sun. You may recall something - a delay, a question that came up, a setback. Now, progress will occur in relation to what happened near January 23. If nothing happened at that time, the message will be more subtle, but you may see an important clue if you watch careful near April 4 and in the days that circle that date before and after. Mars is turning direct at 4 degrees Scorpio, so again, those born near October 25 will feel the blast of energy.

Although we have a number of planets going direct, we also have some about to turn retrograde, so there is quite a bit of traffic in the heavens this month. On April 10, Pluto, your other ruler, will go retrograde at 10 degrees Capricorn until September 17. So one ruler goes direct, the other goes retrograde. You might be conflicted about which course of action to take. When in doubt do nothing. Don't push yourself to make any decision if you don't want to do so.

I have seen that the inner planets - Mercury, Venus, Mars - when retrograde have a much stronger effect than when than the big outer planets go retrograde. The fact that Mars is moving direct is far more important than big outer planet Pluto going retrograde, even though both planets are your rulers. Pay attention to things that happen around April 10, and see if there is a connection later, September 17. (If you have my Year Ahead 2012 calendar, you can make notes on it.) If you were born on or near November 1, you may detect something. Also, as said earlier, see if anything that happens near or just after April 13 is connected to January 23 in any way that you can discern. By paying attention to these days, you will build your knowledge of how the planets work, and how they "speak" to us in a subtle code.

The full moon on April 6 in Libra at 17 degrees, will fall in your twelfth house of planning, dreams, and initiation, so you may be putting the pieces of a plan together for an important push later, in July or later. The energy is like that of a director getting a show ready for Broadway - it's the stage where he chooses the actors, music, costumes, lighting - all under cover until he is ready to lift the curtain and show his work to the world. This is the stage you are in now.

At the same time, within four days of April 6, you are likely to be tired and drained, less energetic than usual, and in need of rest. If you can take several days off to enjoy fresh air and to take things a little slower, that would be a good idea.

This full moon April 6 also a good time to see a therapist if you feel you need to talk over something that has troubled you. You can also get help to end a bad habit. Some celebrities go into rehab during a very lit twelfth house, and you can too if you feel your situation is serious enough to warrant a full-out commitment. Good! This is the time to get the care you need. This is also a fine time to schedule all sorts of annual exams, like mammography or prostate, blood pressure and cholesterol, eye or dental exam - the works. You will have time this month, so take those steps to do so.

One tough day - April 15 - plus or minus two days, will have a draining affect on everyone, when the Sun and Saturn are opposite one another, creating a kind of high noon at the OK Corral situation between two cowboys. Your workload may be very heavy, or you may feel overwhelmed by life's recent events. If you feel a bit depressed, I promise things will improve in one to two days, no more than that. Saturn is trying to get us all to be realistic, which is a good thing, but some of us are overly sensitive to this planet and take Saturn's messages too much to heart. If you suspect that's you, then know to take the good from what you hear but slough off the rest, dear Scorpio. Surround yourself with only those who support you on these days.

Romantically, if you are single, you have Neptune in your house of true love since February, a highly romantic vibration that will last many years. You always need another planet to speak with Neptune, and it's a little too early for that to happen, so for single Scorpios, Neptune can't quite create enough of a fuss. This month's vibrations favor attached Scorpios, but your time will come in August. (Remember, I look for BIG trends, not little ones. The new moon as mentioned earlier, April 21, will light your attachment / commitment / marriage house. You have Jupiter, the Sun and new moon, each in perfect angle to Neptune, the planet of glamour and dreams. If you can imagine this relationship in the years ahead, you can make it real, for this is as romantic as can be!

With Mars so warm and encouraging to this new moon, your friends may figure prominently in your life, too. It may be that you have an event to go to on or near April 21 that proves very memorable, and that allows you to socialize in a way that is very exciting.

Mark down a super-charged wonder-day, April 23, when Mars, your ruler, will send a golden beam to the Sun - this is your day! You'll feel energized and any talks you have on this day should go very well. This day will be fantastic for any purpose - to attend a club or networking meeting, to present a proposal, or do any number of things that are important to you.

If you need to sign a contract or negotiate one, Friday, April 27, should be superb, for the Sun and Pluto will be coming together over the weekend. As early as April 27, you should feel how strongly things are going in your favor!

Summary

The month will begin quietly. The full moon will fall in your privacy sector, making it a good time to reflect on recent events and decide in your own mind what moves you should make next. You clearly need rest, and for the first time in a long time you will be able to find the time to unwind. Travel does not seem possible now, but because you are about to enter a slightly slower phase, take full advantage by begging off social obligations in early April. You need to catch your breath. As a Scorpio, more than most other signs, you make excellent use of time alone.

Your energy may flag as April begins, another reason to take it easy. The full moon, April 6, will be a perfect time to address health matters, so schedule medical and dental appointments, and have any medical tests your doctor feels is appropriate. If you feel you would benefit from time with a professional therapist to talk over a matter that has troubled you, this full moon will show you it's time to see that person and talk out your problem. If you have a habit you want to overcome, this same new moon will help you do that, and you can find the help you need.

Mars is your ruler and has been out of phase all year, but will turn direct April 13. This is happy news, for it means your dearest projects will move ahead at along last with the help of a stronger Mars. It will take time for Mars to ramp up to his usual speed, but by month's end, and certainly by May, new people will enter your sphere, and the month will take on a more lively luster with many events to attend and people to see. You'll feel more energetic by then, and having set your priorities earlier in the month, you'll feel much more like relaxing and socializing.

In the coming months, the new people you will meet will have a powerful impact on your course - one or two will seem almost "fated" to assist you in your progress. Consider joining a professional and social club in the last ten days of April, and when you attend an event, make a real effort to reach out to people you don't know. Scorpio usually says they are happiest alone, because Pluto, one of your two rulers, teaches you the wisdom of aggregating your energy so that you can laser that energy very specifically into purposes that you deem worthy. You don't like small talk, and you abhor wasting time. Yet you know can overdo your propensity for hibernation, so later, come out of your cocoon and greet others as Mars ramps up his speed.

One difficult career day to mark on your calendar could be April 15, plus or minus one day, when transiting Saturn will meet the Sun, a true tug-of-war between fire (Sun) and ice (Saturn). This day could bring an impossibly demanding client or a high key project that goes all wrong. It could bring a setback or the harsh criticism from someone whose opinion you trust. This would be a bad day to sign a contract - keep a few days space from this day on either side.

Romantically, this month strongly favors those who have been dating and are serious about getting married. The new moon of April 21, one of the most glorious and positive of the year, will encourage the exchange of promises. It is, quite simply, the best time in over a decade for you to commit, so if you are serious about your partner, there is no reason to wait. The first ten days of May will bring an embarrassment of riches when it comes to forming an engagement, having your wedding, or even developing a business partnership. If you are already wed, your partner will do well, and together you may decide to draw up big plans for the future.

You must not delay. Looking only a few weeks down the road, from May 15 to June 27, Venus, the ruler of your solar seventh house of marriage, will be retrograde until June 27. When the planet of love (Venus) is resting and not emitting strong vibrations (that happens when retrograde), it is not the time to do anything involving love, commitment, or to even form a business partnership. Venus rules your appearance too, so no one should have plastic surgery or radically change hair during a Venus retrograde - you may not like the results. Some who are new to astrology are often not aware Venus holds dominion over profits too, so during this Venus retrograde phase, you would do best to hold off on making those associations. For this reason, it would be wise to plan with your sweetheart / spouse just after the new moon, April 21, or into early May.

One day this month that will be truly superb for talks with a partner (personal or business) will be April 23, when your secondary ruler, Mars, will be in perfect angle to the Sun. If talks are purely for business, then also circle April 27, a day that will shine brightly, as the Sun will be reaching out to your primary ruler, Pluto - any negotiations about money should go in your favor.

Dates to Note for Scorpio:

Most romantic evenings: April 4, 7, 8, 11-12, 17, 21-22, 23, 26, and 27.

Mercury goes direct April 4, and you will find life brighter, communication and negotiations will go easier. You can shop, too.

Protect your health near the full moon April 6 (plus or minus four days), a time when you may run yourself down.

Mars, one of your two rulers, will go direct, and can now begin to amp up your social life in a big way in months ahead. Go out - it will do you well.

At the same time, April 10, your other ruler, Pluto, goes retrograde until September 17. So one ruler goes direct, the other goes retrograde. You might be conflicted about which course of action to take. When in doubt, do nothing. Don't push yourself to make any decision if you don't want to do so.

April 15, plus or minus two days, is not the time to make a big decision about a career matter. You will be looking at the world a bit too darkly. Better days are due.

Are you ready to marry? This is the most important and beneficial time to accept a proposal from the one you love - in over a decade. Do so after the brilliant new moon of April 21 plus two weeks.

Already married? In coming weeks you will see your partner do well, and you will benefit.

You can form a serious business relationship after April 21 or hire an expert / professional to help you in a big way. You'll have very successful results.

You will feel energetic on April 23 when Mars and the Sun combine energies. Finally career matters will go well, even if they were going in the wrong direction a week earlier, near April 15.

A Letter to My Readers From Susan Miller

A New Title to My Book, "The Year Ahead 2012 and Beyond"

The great sportswriter, Red Smith, once said, "There's nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and open a vein." Now we use computers to write, but the experience the same. Anyone who has ever written a book will agree, it's hard work, but ultimately the most satisfying work you could do on earth. I love to write.

I listened to all you had to say about last year's book. You wanted more pages. You wanted an annex on the nuances of Mercury Retrograde and also on How to Deal with Eclipses. I read what I had written before and that I had posted for you on my site, and those chapters were not good enough. I ripped those chapters apart and added a lot of new material in each. I added a short piece on December 21, 2012, which is the end date of the Mayan calendar and also addressed the controversy about whether you are the sign you think you are (yes), and also addressed whether there is another thirteenth sign (no), and explained why I feel the way I do.

When I was working on each of the signs, I saw that Jupiter would move into Gemini mid-year, to stay until the middle of 2013. When Neptune moved into Pisces on February 3, 2012, this year, this planet of imagination was to stay in Pisces for fourteen years, until January 26, 2026. When Pluto entered Capricorn in 2008, Pluto was prepared to stay - and work on our attitudes toward money - until 2024. Uranus entered Aries last March 11, 2012, to stay until March 6, 2019. Saturn is to move into Scorpio on October 4, 2012, this year, to stay until September 17, 2015. Not all years are the same. As I wrote, I realized in 2012 we were in a year of exceptional change, and each of us was about to transverse from one shore to another. As we gradually cross that bridge, we all would be in the process of saying goodbye to much of our past and walking bravely toward a very new future. It took me time to make sense of all this planetary traffic. Not all signs would feel the shifts of all the planets. For example, Aquarius would feel the move of Uranus to Aries very directly (as Uranus is this sign's ruler), but not be as affected by Pluto in Capricorn. I wanted to pinpoint what was new and fresh with the times we were living in, for no one wants a rerun of past years - and happily I found plenty of evidence of that.

As I wrote, I asked my publisher that we change the name of my book, from the "Year Ahead 2012" to the "Year Ahead 2012 and Beyond." I was spending time looking ahead, and discussing the change in attitude and societal shift some of these planets would have, but I also wanted to look back, to show you where you've been. You are never born brand new into any emerging year, of course, for you bring joys, disappointments, fears, victories, dreams, and a host of experiences and emotions with you into the New Year. Those have to be acknowledged too, so I worked hard at not just trying to walk in your shoes but to actually become you as I wrote, and to see the world as you do, through your eyes, in the light of all your recent experiences as told to me by the planet's positions.

I feel being active on Twitter has made me a better astrologer. I read your posts, and because tweets are short, I can see a great many of your thoughts and experiences. Writing my Year Ahead 2012 Illustrated Calendar (with fine artist Gloria Vanderbilt's work) was a good way for me to carefully study the year's details. I had to first memorize all the planetary positions, and like a forensic scientist see how the planets interconnected with one another to create change.

I saw, for example, that Jupiter was going into Gemini, and that the eclipses in Gemini-Sagittarius this year were destined to speed the progress of Jupiter's good work. New eclipses in the family of Scorpio-Taurus would later work with Saturn, once he moves into Scorpio in October. Uranus and Pluto meanwhile will work to give birth to a new world order. I had discussed that in my essay in my Year Ahead 2012 Calendar, and I don't use the same essays in the book and the calendar. In the front of my book, I hope you will see the essays I wrote on the feel of the year, and how it differs from last year. All kinds of connections were occurring to me, as I saw how the planets were working, not independently, but inter-dependently, to sweep out the old and outmoded, and to bring light to areas of society that need to be addressed.

This week, I will be writing the chapter on Pisces, my last chapter of the book. After that, the book will be done. Each chapter is massive, at least four times or more of the size you are used to seeing in Astrology Zone. We are attempting to put my work into your hands by the new moon April 21, at least digitally. Kindle and Nook will be the first to publish the book, and we are working with a new content manager at Apple, and hope we won't suffer the delays that we had on the iPad last year due to the way manuscripts move through the publication process at Apple. We are learning.

My publisher, Arthur Heydendael, is printing a traditional paper book very quickly. Creative director Jackie Meyer, the former Creative Director of Warner Books, is laying out the quality paperback version of my book. Jackie did the layout of all my calendars and also designed my book last year. I hope you will keep this year's book, as some of the material will be relevant to you in years to come.

I deeply appreciate your patience and support. Writing a book would be a tad easier if I weren't writing 45,000 words for Astrology Zone each month, but I love writing my forecasts for you each month, and I am cheered by knowing that at least you have had all the information you have needed as you awaited the finish of my book.

Discover your rising sign, the most important element to learn!

If you don't know your rising sign, you won't get quite as much out of my monthly forecasts on Astrology Zone or my daily forecasts on cell phones (or delivered to your email box daily by Daily Astrology Zone). In my newsletters I will discuss astrology and philosophical topics. I will also make one or two announcements. You will not get "spam" from me - I don't like getting those kinds of emails, and I won't send you anything I would not want to receive myself.
